SEO strategy consulting,
before the spend.

What to build, what to fix, and what to stop paying for.

The state you are probably in

You have a team, a budget and a backlog, and no agreement on what matters. Or you have a plan that was written by whoever wanted to sell you the work. Either way you are not short of effort. You are short of an order to do things in.

What a strategy decides
01

Where the demand is

Which searches your buyers run, in which markets, with volume attached. Not a keyword list. A demand map with money on it.

02

What you can win

Ranking is competitive, not aspirational. Every target gets checked against who holds it today and what it would take to move them.

03

Enterprise sites: fewer pages, not more

Pages that exist, pages that need building, pages that should be merged or deleted. On enterprise sites the answer is usually fewer pages, not more. The reasoning is in crawl budget and fewer pages.

04

Who does what, and when

A sequence your team can run without me in the room, ordered so each step makes the next one cheaper. If you sell in more than one market, an international SEO strategy is the only kind worth writing, and it starts with five decisions to make before entering a new market.

05

What to stop

Most sites carry pages that cost more to maintain than they return, and campaigns that survive because nobody wants to be the one who ends them. Deciding what to retire is part of the plan, and it is usually the part that frees the budget for everything else.

Where SEO strategy usually goes wrong

Most SEO strategy is a deck. It gets presented, everyone agrees, and nothing changes, because it never said who does what by when. If it cannot survive contact with your sprint board, it will sit in a folder.

Three things people ask

“Can you just give us the keyword list?” I can, and it will be the least useful part. A list without an order is a backlog. What you are hiring an SEO strategy consultant for is the order, and for what comes off the list entirely.

“We already have an agency. Why pay for a plan?” Because most agency plans start from what the agency sells. If yours starts from where your demand is and what you can realistically win, keep it and save the money, and I will tell you that after reading it. On large sites that read is most of what an enterprise SEO consultant is hired for.

“How long does it take?” Two to four weeks for a single market, longer across several. Most of that is research. Writing it down is the fast part.

One decision that mattered

For a Canadian immigration practice, the decision that mattered most was what to leave out. The highest-volume queries in that category attract readers, not buyers. Building around commercial intent instead meant fewer pages, slower numbers in the first months, and inquiries from people ready to act.

What is included, and what is not

Included. Demand research per market, a competitive read on what is winnable, a page-level map of what exists, what to build and what to merge or delete, a sequence with owners, and a working session where I walk your team through it and answer for it.

Not included. Execution, unless you want it. The plan is written so your team can run it without me, and priced separately so you are not paying for a retainer you did not ask for.

When the plan changes

A strategy is not a document you follow for a year. An algorithm update, a competitor move, or a market that behaves differently from the research all change the order. I rewrite the sequence when the evidence changes, and I say which assumption was wrong rather than quietly reordering the list.

What the plan will not do

A strategy does not move rankings. Execution does. If you want the plan and nothing else, take it and run it with your own team. I would rather that than sell you a document you will not open again.

Questions

How long does SEO take to work?

First measurable movement usually shows in three to six months, and competitive commercial terms take longer. The variable that moves that timeline most is not the strategy, it is how fast the changes actually get made. The earliest honest signal is a change in the type of queries bringing people in, which happens before the traffic number moves.

What does an SEO strategy look like?

A list of what to build, what to fix and what to stop paying for, in an order your team can execute. It names the searches worth competing for, who holds them now, and what has to be true for you to take them. If it does not also say what you are not doing, it is a wish list.
